With 50 great freeware games released at once, the Retro Remakes site has been getting a bit of a hammering.
To help spread the load, many of the remake authors are hosting their own entry as an off-site download.
(I’ve gathered all the links, screenshots & titles… after the jump)
OK, here we go…

Retro Remakes is a not-for-profit site⦠which is why the recent destructive site hack is even more annoying. If you think having access to FIFTY free retro remakes is worth a couple of bucks, please consider making a donation at their site, once things are operational again.

Surely the Retro Remakes team is grateful for this fantastic post and the bandwith help. Already tried the Empire Strikes Back game and the Bruce Lee remake. Both seem fantastic!

Who knows gnome – I think at the moment they’re *just* trying to keep their heads above water!
Thanks for the nice comment though.
PS: Haven’t tried ESB yet – I *did* try As Time Goes By last night – got a bit stuck, needs a bit more playtime…

ESB is quite impressive really. I’d dare say better than the arcade and definitely a more polished effort than the original Star Wars remake. Loved the style of As Time Goes By, but can’t help feel them controls are sort of stiff… Better give it another go I suppose.

I don’t recognise any of these.
I feel un-retro. Well, i recognise Dizzy, but I don’t recognise any that I’ve played.
Still, I’m gonna check out Retro Gaming to see what everybody used to make these titles. My cousin and I love making cheapass platformers but I haven’t in years and I’m so rusty at programming.

Well Lucid, you’ve gotta remember that some of those remakes were entered in the category “remakes that weren’t” (ie sequels to known retro games, or retro-styled games designed for people with disabilities.
