Saatchify an Ad! Make a Million!

OK, not games related, but I had to post this.

Saatchi & Saatchi Sydney has taken the classic Cadbury UK “Gorilla” ad, deleted Phil Collins’ In the Air Tonight, and replaced it with John Farnham’s You’re the Voice.

This is the result. Oh dear.


Let’s “Saatchify” some more famous non-Australian ads!
It’s easy! Just follow these steps!


1. Find a classic music-based ad on Youtube. Then copy it's link ('URL').

2. Open new browser window. Visit Youtube Doubler. Paste ad link as shown.

3. Find a well-known Aussie song on Youtube. Copy the link.

4. Paste the song link into the 2nd box on Youtube Doubler.

5. Press 'double up'.

6. Turn OFF volume on the LEFT HAND clip & send someone an invoice!

7. Copy your 'Saatchified' link & paste it in the comments below.

Here’s a few to get you started…

Sprite kid/dad commercial…
Subtract The Bee Gees, add The Angels = this.

Barclaycard’s UK commercial…
Subtract The Bee Gees(again?), add JPY = this.
(Actually, that’s quite good. I should pitch it to CommBank…)

Now, what ads can YOU Saatchify?

Old ads… recent ads… make ’em clever, make me laugh.
(Just make sure you start with a well known non-Australian ad featuring a song.)

    It’s Saatchi & Saatchi Australia, not M&C Saatchi Sydney. And I think you’ll find it was the client’s idea, not the agency’s.

      As for “who’s idea” it was, you’re probably right.
      But then… “clientification” or “Cadburyising” wasn’t quite as catchy as “Saatchification“. 😉

    Honda ‘Impossible Dream’ commercial…
    Subtract ‘The Impossible Dream (The Quest)’, add Crowded House ‘Don’t Dream It’s Over’. Should be a pretty crap ad.

      PS: Had to look far & wide for a Crowdies clip that didn’t have “Embedding disabled by request”.
      (Which SANE record company wants LESS people to watch a clip?)

        From the music starting when the record is shown on the ad to the couple of bars without vocals just before the ad ends, that one lines up pretty well!

        I actually prefer the Crowded House version to the original, at least until towrds the end of the ad.

        Remind me never to hire Lynchy to sell a product.

    Note: start the song at 6 seconds. “My People” by the Presets.
