Australia’s new arcade champion

Australia… has a new champion.

NSW resident Phil Day is now the unofficial world record holder on Galaga. His score, of 3.44 million points is well ahead of the previous record, 2.7 million by American Andrew Laidlaw. Phil’s score has yet to be verified by Twin Galaxies.

Phil achieved his record-breaking game last Saturday night, on his home machine. (A Hankin upright, nice!) His new achievement comes after being officially recognised as “World Galaga player number 2” in July this year.

There’s much, much more to say on this subject, and Phil has just kindly agreed to a J-OMG interview later this week.
