At last, a Doom mod for Generation Y

No, I haven’t played either ‘Modern Warfare’ game.

I’ve heard the first one’s OK, but I certainly don’t feel the need to buy the second. If a game is famous because of how much they spent on advertising it – something is really wrong.

But here’s today’s question…
How do we encourage players who’ve just started playing FPS games – to try a classic title like Doom?

Answer below…

It’s funny… I’m currently playing episode 4 (‘Thy Flesh Consumed‘)
of Doom for the first time.

For those of you who don’t remember…

  • The original shareware Doom was episode 1
  • Registered Doom was episodes 1,2,3
  • And ‘Ultimate’ Doom, the boxed version, was episodes 1-4.

ie: The only version with episode 4 was the boxed, store version. Alas, I never had that one, until recently.

And wow, isn’t E4M2 a total @$(^%!!!!

    Must try that. I bought the “Doom Collector’s Edition” years ago and it has that Ultimate Edition too. Great games!

    Oh, MW2 is a blast but online play is ruined by cheaters and hackers on Xbox, and “boosters” on all platforms.😦

      (re cheats/hacks) That’s another reason to stick to Steam-based PC multiplayer games, so the VAC nukes all those pathetic cheaters.

        I wish! Unfortunately even Punkbuster can’t stop all cheaters. Possibly the best platform would be the PS3. Even though that was recently “hacked”, it’s likely that Sony will close that loophole as it’s leaked debug software that was used to put machines in debug mode.

    @Donncha

    the latest ps3 hack is to play backup games and its version of modern warfare 2 has been hacked just as long as the pc version.
