No R18+ rating for Australia, yet

Ok, I’ve had my bit of fun. Serious time now.

Australia’s eight attorneys general have just agreed to… delay a decision regarding an R18+ adult rating for videogames. Minister for Home Affairs Brendan O’Connor told Mark Serrels of Kotaku “Everyone agreed that things need to be changed with the rating system… We need to have a clear consensus on the guidlines and we’re on the right track…

The floodgates are still closed

Australia’s Federal Home Affairs Minister, Brendan O’Connor has just announced that Australia’s attorneys general have “agreed to an in-principle decision to consult with their respective Cabinets.” ie: No decision on an R18+ classification today. That’s after a 12 month public consultation process, and numerous surveys showing national support of 80-90%.

Hmmm.

The good news is… THE FLOODGATES ARE STILL CLOSED!
All those murder simulators full of sex and drugtaking will be kept outside our great country!
